EXTENDING THE LIFE OF YOUR NEW HAND-CRAFTED LEATHER GOOD.
CARING FOR YOUR LEATHER
-
Leather has a fantastic tendency to age, and deepen in color, if well-cared for. You will notice that any item you purchase will likely be a relatively brighter color, but this will change over the next several months. The color matures, and can deepen and darken, giving you a more impressive and classic look for your leather.
-
Although one of the final steps in crafting any leather good is to give it a thin coat of protectant, that protection will only go so far. It is important to remember that the leather is vulnerable to certain, extreme conditions. It is best to know what to prevent from happening to your new item, as well as what to realistically expect with your new good’s life span.
-
Be sure to avoid getting your new item too wet, as this may change the shape or color of the leather. Sharp objects can also scratch the surface of many leather items, marring its appearance. It is also recommended you avoid storing your leather items in direct sunlight, as this can dry the leather out too an undesirable texture.
